Within each day exits the opportunity for infinite transitions, shifts and new timelines. These days I can see myself sliding into new realities and skipping over and around versions of myself, evolving many times within a day or week. My reality is a complex web woven with junctions of stability that I seem to rest at for only hours, and the cross-threads of unknown between them where I spend most of my time. I can feel an intangible foundation being laid for something big, although the shifts in the material world are hardly noticeable; right now, there are only breadcrumbs.

I left for my 8 month journey into myself (or I AM) yesterday. Synchronicities have been abundant lately. People have asked me if I know anyone in the countries I wish to visit and while I don’t directly know anyone, I have had so many offers for potential companionship from friends who have friends and clients through other clients who live in these places. I know I will make many friends who will all play an important role in allowing me to succeed in my life’s purpose. Some may offer support and some may be present to challenge me to let go of more of my limited self. Either way, I find comfort in knowing that I am not really alone. My seat-mate on the flight turned out to also be backpacking for several months, so even though we don’t have plans to cross paths again, I know he is out there exploring just like me.

I’ve been slowly reading Anna, Grandmother of Jesus in the months leading up to this trip. A particular passage I read yesterday before my flight inspired a moment of reflection.

“An initiation is that inner-directed experience that takes you over the threshold of irreversible change”.

The words brought me to an important realization. All of the reading I have done has lent ideas at exactly the right moment for me to soak it in. With perfect timing comes the ability to translate the information into action, or into an initiation, as defined above. As I have learned many times, a particular place or adventure is not required to transform, but it can certainly assist in accelerating the process.

I have a long list of places I would like to visit during my trip. I felt compelled to visit so many countries because Jesus took initiations in them, and primarily because I felt called to go there for my own initiations. It felt as if some major opportunity for transformation was waiting in each particular location. This could be true, but I was allowing this idea to take me out of the present moment every time someone asked me about where I planned to go. I was beginning to worry that I wouldn’t make it to all of these places during the time I had allotted. The worry was creating resistance to the flow that I am immersing myself in during these 8 months. The flow is just being. As I read this quote and the passage that followed, I realized that I have been engineering my own “initiations” for almost two years now, without a special place, trip or intended destination. So, with this realization, I know that no matter where I end up on this journey (physically), I will receive exactly the right opportunities and assistance to move towards reaching my goal of being free from my limited self.

For reference, in short, the five items that can be considered initiations as listed in the book referenced earlier, are as follows (note: these are paraphrased by the author of this article):

1. A marked attitudinal change that aligns you with a greater purpose

2. Physical changes in which toxins are cleared and dormant functions are activated

3. Emotional clearing and greater emotional maturity and stability

4. Changes in self-perception resulting in greater interconnectedness

5. More identification with the quantum realm

I’ve realized that the word initiation really just means an intentional letting go for the greatest good of yourself and others. With this realization, I’ve found more motivation and excitement to fuel this journey, and validation for the work I’ve already done.
